Bird watching in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia.

It feels great to be back on McKanes Falls Road again. I was enjoying a quite Chardonnay on the back deck yesterday evening. Two black and white Magpies were picking at the lawn while two wedge tailed eagles were swirling above in concentric circles on the mountain thermals. Then, a pair of bright yellow, red and green Eastern Rosellas flew past. I sipped the Chardonnay a while longer, enjoying the view on a spectacular summer evening, when a group of six or seven huge, Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoos flew right past the back deck. They were so close that I felt as though I could reach out and touch them. Sometimes, I just have to pinch myself.
